44 MW Photovoltaic Tracker Project energized on June 29th 2021

After in total six and a half years, the plant went into operation. E.Quadrat supported the project from its very nascent stage up to the beginning of construction. The physical implementation itself was performed by Greencells GmbH, Saarbrücken Germany, together with its Malaysian partners.

44 MW Photovoltaic Tracker Project energized on June 29th 2021

The 44 MW Photovoltaic Tracker Project was initiated by E.Quadrat together with its Malaysian partners Majulia Sdh. Bhd, Kuala Lumpur and SSM Associates Sdn. Bhd., Kuala Lumpur in December 2014 already! After the first development phase managed by E.Quadrat, the latter introduced the German company Greencells GmbH in spring 2017 because the Malaysian partners were not financially strong enough for the full project finance. Therefore, Greencells took over the majority investor role in the project with the intention to participate in the Malaysia competitive bidding for photovoltaic projects in August 2017. Then, in early 2018 the project was successfully allotted by the Malaysia authorities for implementation. Up to mid of 2019 E.Quadrat accompanied and supported Greencells and Majulia in terms of project engineering for technical design, execution and project finance support from abroad and on-site.

The photovoltaic modules used in the project are bifacial type, meaning the modules generate power from front and back side. Together with the tracker technology, the plant will generate approx. 76,000 MWh per year. The project is located in Pekan, east coast of Malaysia.
